Spring is here & the sun is shining. As the financial year comes to a close, businesses begin to consider their options going forward including staffing, policies, procedures & business practices for the financial year ahead.
With Covid19 cases still at an all time high, it is evident that some business sectors are still struggling with staff shortages. The leisure & tourism sector having been hardest hit by the pandemic lockdowns; has struggled to re-recruit & or retain staff, with some airports growing concerned about capacity for the coming Summer season.
Despite the economic & health uncertainties the UK still faces, many business owners have been forced to use the past two years re-consider their business options, adapting to the changing times we live in.
Virtually Smart Ltd have gathered together some top tips for businesses & some thought provoking ideas for our challenging & changing times.
Annual or 6 monthly review
Taking time to have an annual or sometimes 6 monthly review of a business can keep it fresh & dynamic. In the wake of the initial Covid crisis now could be the perfect time to revaluate your business model, consider your options going forward, check out the competition & consider how you could change your business model to remain effective during the economic recovery.
‘If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it’ Is this really a route to success?
Established practices & traditional methods are often times relied upon utilising the ‘if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it’ methodology.
However, this way of running a business can run the risk of stagnating & in some cases being left behind. In many cases the Covid19 pandemic has highlighted these issues & seen many businesses fall by the wayside as they have not been able to adapt.
Stay ahead of the curve
So many companies during the CV19 crisis quickly adapted to remain trading. Nurseries which would normally supply some of our largest garden centres, started offering home deliveries direct to consumers doors. Restaurants offered a collection service for prepared meals & many businesses moved online & or focused on reaching out to their local communities for a captive audience.
Is it time to restructure?
Restructuring a business whether it be a 10 strong staff or thousands; can really refresh a business. Another reason restructuring is often a positive is it enables hitherto untapped skills sets & knowledge bases to flourish.
Simple changes to a business ideology can have the greatest impact. Taking time to take an objective view of your business, can make an enormous difference to how you can refresh, thrive & continue to survive.
